The Rio Rancho Astronomical Society is hosting its eight annual Night Under the Stars from 5-11 p.m. Saturday at the Rainbow Park Observatory, 301 Southern Blvd.
The event is the society's primary fundraiser of the year.
From 5-7 p.m., attendees can participate in a silent auction, kids activities and, weather permitting, sun-gazing. Papa Murphy's pizza and Pepsi will be available for a donation.
Jim Greenhouse, space science director at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, is scheduled to speak at 8 a.m.
After dark, the society will provide telescopes for star-gazing, again, weather permitting.
